The Alaska Highway: Sept 1 and 2
Subject: toward Watson Lake and the Signpost Forest
Comments: Today's riding was even better than yesterday's. For long periods I would be riding along beautiful lakes and rivers. Finally I arrived at Watson Lake and found a place to camp at a nice RV park in town, and then found a restaurant that had a great buffet going in the bar connected to it. I found northern Canadian food to be spiced a little different than I'm used to (I think they put a pinch of cloves and cinnamon in just about everything), but I liked it. After a good night's rest I went back to the same restaurant (I believe it was the Belvedere) and had my morning coffee and visited for an hour with a man from Fort St. John that was on vacation with his wife and daughter. He had worked for the wood mill in Fort St. John for many years. I would run into them a couple more times along the Alaska Highway later.
After coffee and loading up the bike for the day's ride I visited the famous Signpost Forest on the highway in Watson Lake. I only intended to spend a few minutes there, but ended up staying a couple hours and taking many pictures.
