The ride back to Anchorage: Aug 27

Comments: Today I rode back to Anchorage in rain all the way. I had planned on stopping at Talkeetna on my way back since I missed it on the way up, but with the rain pouring down and me anxious to get back to a dry spot I kept on moving toward Anchorage. Back in Anchorage I went by the Kawasaki shop to see if my new sprockets had come in and they had, and the service manager was nice enough to fit me in at the last minute that day, so I wouldn't have to stay over in Anchorage an extra night. With new sprockets and new chain on the bike, I headed toward Palmer and got a motel room there. I was thankful to find one, because the Alaska State Fair was going on, and I didn't expect to find a room in Palmer. (John and I had already said our goodbyes at Denali, and he had headed to Hope, AK to visit friends before flying home from Anchorage.)

The first and second shots on this page are the only pictures I got of Mt. McKinley on this trip. These pictures were taking at the north Viewing Station, south of the park.
