At Denali Mountain Morning Hostel: Aug 25 and 26
Comments: These are some shots of the hostel where we stayed while touring Denali National Park. It offers small individual cabins or men and women's dorms, or tents on platforms for rent complete with sleeping bags and bag liners, and cots.
The first picture shows the cabin John and I rented. The fourth photo shows the lodge which included a living/dining area with lots of books and magazines available to guests, a PC with internet hookup, a communal kitchen, and bathrooms. The dorms were upstairs in the lodge. The fifth picture shows the shower house beside the lodge, and the remaining pictures show the camping and campfire areas along the adjacent creek.
The hostel is 13 miles south of the main park entrance, and there are 3 restaurants just across the road from the hostel. We noticed during our visit that there were guests staying there from several different countries, which made for an interesting atmosphere about the place. Some were there for rafting and hiking and biking adventures, but most were there to tour the park via shuttles like we did.
Contrary to plan, I ended up staying a third night at the hostel due to heavy rains on the 26th, and I figured by waiting till the 27th to ride back to Anchorage I could increase my chance of getting to ride in better weather (I was wrong it turned out). I hadn't booked a cabin for a third night, but the hostel had a tent available (I had left my camping gear in Anchorage), so I slept my third night at the hostel in the tent shown in the last photo on this page.
