Subject: Shuttle Bus Trip into the Park

Comments: The pictures I took in the park on this day do not do the park justice. John and I had reservations for a twelve hour bus trip inside the park because private vehicles aren't allowed in the park (to protect the pristine environment and the wildlife). On the ride, we saw moose, elk, dall sheep, ptarmigans, trumpeter swans, gray wolves and 5 wolf pups, and several grizzly bears. Most of these were seen from a long distance and didn't give us an opportunity for good photos, unfortunately.

Due to smoke from the fires east of Fairbanks, visibility of the mountain scenery wasn't what we hoped it would be but the chance to see the wildlife in this environment made up for it.

The last photo on this page is a detail of the shot before it. You can almost make out the image of the grizzly bear in the detail shot.
