Homer, AK: Aug 22 and 23

Comments: This evening we checked into the Heritage Hotel, which I thought was a very cool place and not over-priced. It is located in the part of town that is on the side of the hill, overlooking Katchemak Bay and the mountains on the opposite shore.

After settling in, we drove down to the Spit, which is a land bar sticking out into the bay. Many of Homer's shops and restaurants are on the Spit and there are many transient types living in RV's and tents along the beaches of the Spit. The Spit creates the Homer harbor, so this is also the place to watch the fishermen come and go with their day's catch.
