Cruising through the Inside Passage
Enroute to Juneau, AK: Aug 15
Subject: Wrangell to Petersburg
Comments: These pictures were taken Sunday evening as we neared Petersburg. John and I met a woman on the ship, Cathi (see the first picture on this page) that we both enjoyed visiting with a lot. She was on assignment as a nurse at Petersburg's little hospital (only 13 beds!) and when we arrived in Petersburg, even though we were only to be there a short time, Cathi offered to drive us around the village so we could see what the town was like. That evening will stick
in my mind for a long time. I loved Petersburg.
The channels leading into Petersburg are very narrow and shallow and difficult to navigate. The ferry boats can only go through them at high tide and still barely fit through the channels.
